Whether its fashion or home decorating -  zebra print is hot, hot, hot this season. As a matter of fact, it’s hot every season because zebra print is sexy yet not too feminine and wild yet still classic. Done right, a few touches of zebra print can literally transform a room and bring it not only just “up to date,” but give it a contemporary, sophisticated, eye catching focal point.  Done right, a few zebra print accessories such as a zebra print handbag or zebra print shoes can transform an outfit from boring to beautiful.

When decorating with zebra print, the  timeless rule of “less is more” most definitely applies. This is probably the most important tip of all when incorporating any animal print into your space. Overkill of zebra print such as a zebra rug, zebra throw blanket on a zebra sofa with a zebra lampshade and zebra curtains will have your head spinning and your poor unsuspecting guests feeling like they just stepped into some sort of strange jungle zoo exhibit. Instead of going overboard, choose either a few small accessories or one large piece that will be the main focal point of the room.

There are many different ways to incorporate zebra print into your décor and no matter what the space or the function of the space, a touch of zebra pattern is the perfect pop of graphic interest you need.

For bathrooms, choose a zebra print shower curtain and pair it with a solid black or white bath mat or bathroom rug. Feel free to add a pop of color in the form of towels or soap dispensers. Remember, the bathroom is probably the smallest room in your house – more than one zebra print accessory could easily be one too many.

In your home office, feel free to use zebra print file holders or zebra print desk accessories. Pick up some colorful artwork that incorporates the black and white theme of your zebra pattern. Don’t be afraid to stick with black and white in a thin pin stripe for your window treatments. Mixing and matching the black and white neutrals in different patterns is a great way to bring the entire room together without making it feel like a jungle themed office.

For your bedroom, you can either choose to create a main focal point by purchasing a zebra print comforter or zebra print bedding with coordinating accessories. That said, if you do decide to dress up your bed in a zebra pattern – stop there. Add some striped lampshades or other black and white accessories in a small pattern such as floral or small polka-dots or of course, in solids. Don’t be afraid to bring in a third color. As a matter of fact, do bring in a third color on throw pillows or in a throw blanket or even a throw rug. Small accessories such as a picture frame and a vase are excellent ways to bring in that third color.. Yellow, green, pink, red, or even purple are all fantastic options.

For your living room a zebra print rug is probably one of the coolest accessories on the market. Whether it’s a large rug or a smaller accent run, zebra print on the floor is design at its best. If you prefer instead, to add the pattern elsewhere, consider two zebra armless low-back chairs and a zebra print throw pillow on an adjacent sofa.

Whether you’re wearing it, sitting on it, or sleeping under it, zebra print fashion and home décor is stylish, trendy and sexy.  For your next design makeover or wardrobe rehab, be sure to pick up a few zebra print pieces and spice up your home, and your look!
